SEQUENCE x NASH AGENTS OF CHANGE DIY KIT

Ariela Suster, founder and creator of Sequence Collection and Nash (age 10!) have collaborated to create The Agents Of Change DIY Kit. The two set out to create a product that inspires young people to become change makers in their communities, to give back, spread kindness and love. Throughout the past year in quarantine, Nash and Ariela scheduled weekly zoom calls and worked on every detail of the Kit together.  “It was a beautiful process collaborating on this project. Nash wanted to make sure that every piece included in the kit had intention and meaning behind it.” Says Ariela

“I know that small acts of kindness can still make a big difference in other people's lives and help to create positive change.  I wanted to get other kids talking and thinking about helping others.” - Says Nash

All the pieces in this kit create and inspire positive change and are consciously and ethically sourced:

SEQUENCE- knots

The Sequence Story begins in El Salvador, where founder and creative director Ariela Suster was born and raised. Growing up during El Salvador’s Civil War, Ariela and her family experienced violence firsthand and it rocked Ariela to her core, but also lit in her a desire to change it. She felt determined to one day influence the sequence of events that keep her country— and its people—in violence. She created SEQUENCE with the mission to disrupt the cycle of violence that limits at risk youth by employing young men and women living in violent communities to handcraft and produce beautiful products. The talented artists who work at SEQUENCE mostly young men, have created positive change within themselves and their communities. “We live our lives creating our own sequence, our unique story. We seek to positively influence the sequence of someone else’s story.”-Ariela

Jaime Vargas- handmade beads

Originally from Bogota, Colombia. Jaime spent most of his life studying and learning from different indigenous cultures and their traditional methods of producing artifacts throughout all of the Americas. Jaime arrived in Guatemala to learn from the rich Mayan culture. He created Los Colores de la Tierra his jewelry company with the main objective to create dignified and fair working conditions in the villages of Guatemala for local Mayan artisans.  "It occurred to me that their pay was not fair, which inspired me to work with them.“- Jaime

Madu- charms

Handcrafted in Swaziland where Madu was born and raised, he upcycles materials he finds in wildlife to create jewelry. His mission is to empower local youth by creating employment and opportunities for personal development. “My art starts in the field, not at my shop. Because of the material's uniqueness, I can not buy it but need to search for it, so I visit rural areas and collect waste of cow bones and horns. Once I have it, I'm back at my shop, starting with the process of cleaning the material I collected.” MADU

SEQUENCE is partnering with Glasswing International, a non-profit organization with the mission to address the root causes and consequences of violence and poverty through education and health programs that empower youth and communities. Throughout Latin America, where millions are born into cycles of poverty and violence, Glasswing harnesses the power of community to create a safer and more prosperous future for all.Through grassroots, evidence-based programming and cross-sector alliances, they create opportunities for children and youth – local changemakers – to thrive.SEQUENCE will donate the kits and bring them to their programs and initiatives for children at the Mexico- US border and their community school programs in Latin American and the NY to provide students with educational, recreational, and enriching opportunities to ensure that they have the support network and educational opportunities they need to thrive, and are empowered to effect change in their communities.
